some questions about a trip to Sedona AZ?

I want to go to Sedona AZ in June with my four best friends, her sister and parents for my birthday 16. How I can go about planning this? would be leaving New York. I've never been there before, what do we recommend? hotel / resort suggestions? how long should we stay there? and any other useful information would be nice:)
